Getting Involved can Help!

Three day weekends are awesome, I just love them! Friday I worked at the pool and then went to visit my family to see what they were up to. Once I felt like I got caught up on all of the info from my family I went back to the mount to get ready for a surprise party and later I hung out with some of my friends and then tried to get some rest. Saturday I had a very busy day at Sears; it seemed as if everyone was trying to get some shopping in before the holiday! But after that I had to go to a staff party at the pool that I worked at this past summer, so much fun! I was so happy to see all of my close friends that made over the summer. Then Sunday I went to see the WEBN fireworks with a group of my friends from the mount. Like always it almost brought me to tears, I mean they were beautiful!

Wednesday there was the campus fair, it was a lot of fun and I think this year’s executive board of bsu got a lot of students interested in our organization! I also learned on Wednesday that my choir is having our first recital on November 20th at 7:30 p.m. I’m so excited because I think we have a really good sound! Thursday was bsu’s first student body meeting and we were very pleased with the outcome of how many people showed up to the meeting. We all got a chance to introduce ourselves and let the students know that bsu is for everyone, it is not just for the African American students of the mount. It is also for minorities, Caucasians, professors; when we say bsu is for everyone we really mean everyone! So if you are a future student of the Mount you should really think about joining some type of organization because that is a great way to meet new friends, a good way to network, an excellent way to get help with your studies especially if it is an academic club that you would like to join. If you are coming to the mount no matter what you do, join some type of club because in the end it will only benefit you!
