It is perfectly normal to start college as an undeclared major. Your ideas will change and new interests will emerge during college and beyond. The career decisions will follow...there is plenty of time to explore and reality-test your options!

The Academic Exploration Program offers opportunities to participate in a variety of activities in which you are taught to evaluate and use the results of academic and occupational assessment in selecting your major and possible careers. Students in the program also actively examine their possibilities by:

• Taking career decision-making classes
• Taking career assessments
• Examining occupational information resources
• Seeking individual career counseling
• Attending workshops, senior thesis shows, capstone presentations and much more.

As you move toward your decision about a major at your own pace, you will:

• Work with your own, knowledeable academic advisor.
• Be part of a learning community with other students who have not decided on a major.
• Receive lots of personal attention and individual counseling about majors and career choices.
• Benefit from the many resources available through the Career and Experiential Education Center.

Many students have declared their major by the second semester of their freshman year. Most have decided before starting their sophomore year. Your advisor will guide you through the declaration process.
