Admission Criteria & Application Procedure
Traditional High School Students (Students out of high school fewer than four years)
The College of Mount St. Joseph conducts a comprehensive and individualized review of every candidate’s credentials for admission including, but not limited to, the following: a college prep high school curriculum, strong grade point average, standardized test scores, evidence of leadership, and extracurricular involvement. In addition, students’ personal background, attributes and individual life circumstances are taken into consideration. The College of Mount St. Joseph seeks students who would contribute to, and benefit from, the educational programs and activities we offer.
The College of Mount St. Joseph offers admission on a rolling basis. Students who wish to apply for traditional undergraduate admission must submit the following:
1. A completed application, along with the $25.00 application fee.
- These fees are nonrefundable and do not apply toward college expenses.
2. An official high school transcript showing course work and grades. Students who have completed any post-secondary course work should also submit those official transcripts.
- Results Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) must be submitted.
- The admission process is not complete until a final official transcript is received after high school graduation.
3. Forward SAT and/or ACT scores. Our code number for the SAT is 1129; AP code is 1129. The code number for the ACT is 3254. Scores may be sent directly from SAT/ACT or be included on a high school transcript.
The Mount highly recommends completion of the written section of the ACT; however, it is not required.
4. Letters of recommendation and a personal essay may be included with application, but are not required unless specifically requested by the office of admission.
A tuition deposit of $100 is payable within 30 days of acceptance to the College. This deposit is applied to the cost of the first semester of attendance. The $100 deposit is refundable until May 1.
Project EXCEL
The admission decision for Project EXCEL applicants comes directly from Project EXCEL. See
Project EXCEL for detailed information on the application and admission process.
Home-Schooled Applicants
The Mount welcomes applications from home-schooled students. Students who are home schooled must submit an application for admission, application fee, transcripts along with any documentation from the state or national home schooling accreditation agency, and ACT and/or SAT scores. Students may also be asked to interview with a member of the admission staff.
Readmission
If a student is accepted to the College and does not enroll for the semester they have indicated on their application, the student must reapply for admission. Please contact the office of admission directly to request an application or update your records.
