Alumni travel to Italy!
In collaboration with GoNext, Inc, the Alumni Relation office planned a trip to Italy. Thirteen alumnae left the states and flew to Italy on October 9. Upon arriving in Rome, we boarded our tour bus to Chianchanno where we valiantly tried to stay awake through dinner. A brisk walk through this small European town in the Tuscany region revealed quaint shops, friendly people and wonderful food.
The first day included stops in Sienna, where we learned the history of the famous horse races and we ended in a winery where we learned the intricacies of making Italian wine, followed by a tasting. The next day we were off to Assisi where we entered the cathedral of St. Francis’ tomb. There were trips to Florence where we enjoyed sidewalk cafes, the marketplace and of course the David. We made a wish at the Trevi fountain and toured the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basillica. When we boarded the plane for home, we realized we had made new friends while learning about other cultures.

“ My favorite moment was being with my two friends at the papal audience. Pope Benedict was only a few feet from us in his "popemobile". It's hard to imagine that 30,000 pilgrims come each week to see him and pray with him.”
